Verdant Isle Port Partners is the group named as preferred bidder for the Cayman Islands cruise berthing and cargo enhancement project. Verdant Isle Port Partners consists of the world’s two largest cruise companies, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Carnival Corporation, together with Orion Marine Group and McAlpine Ltd.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd will co-lead the financing of the project and provide technical design and maintenance input.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd is a global cruise vacation company that controls and operates four global brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara and Silversea Cruises. It is also a 50 percent joint venture owner of the German brand TUI Cruises and a 49 percent shareholder in the Spanish brand Pullmantur Cruceros. McAlpine Limited will lead the development of the landside scope of work for the project.
McAlpine is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sir Robert McAlpine (Holdings) Limited and has been established in the Cayman Islands for more than 45 years. Through this time in Cayman, McAlpine has developed an excellent working relationship with local and international consulting firms, material suppliers and procurement agencies and other large international construction companies. McAlpine has experience in a variety of contracting models including Design-Build and the formation of joint ventures when required.
McAlpine has a proven record of accomplishment in the successful delivery of complex and large projects in the Cayman Islands. Some of the most iconic buildings in the Cayman Islands were built by McAlpine, such as the Cayman Islands Government Administration Building, the Owen Roberts International Airport, and Bank of Butterfield Building.
McAlpine will use a proven mix of local and foreign consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, labor force, plant and equipment to design and build the project’s landside development to the highest possible standards of safety and quality.
Orion Marine Construction Inc.
Orion will lead the engineering and design of the project as well as the marine construction scope of work.
